A unit of volume used in the United Kingdom for the measurement of liquid substances, and occasionally of solid substances, equal to 1/4 U.K. pint, or to approximately 1.42065 × 10-4 cubic meter. MYCOLOGY A structure consisting of radially arranged rows of tissue that hang from the underside of the mushroom cap of certain basidiomycetes.
