以作物生育的内在规律为基础，综合作物遗传特性、环境效应、技术调控之间的因果关系，对作物各种生长过程进行综合的数学模拟，着重利用系统分析方法和计算机模拟技术，对作物生长发育过程及其与环境和技术的动态关系进行定量描述和预测的机理模型。又称作物模拟模型、作物生长模拟模型。
