渤海国是唐代以靺鞨族粟末部为主体建立的地方政权，上京龙泉府是渤海国五京之一，营建于8世纪中叶，是模仿唐代长安城布局兴建的有完整规划的都城，城门和宫殿建筑又有其地方特点，反映了中国古代少数民族和汉族间的文化交流。现存遗址位于黑龙江省宁安县东京城镇。1961年定为全国重点文物保护单位。
