曾称光学异构体。原指因手性分子的原子或原子团在空间的不同排布，从而对平面偏振光的偏振面发生不同影响，显示出旋光符号相反或数值不同的对映异构体或非对映异构体。但其并不是一个十分确切的术语，全国科学技术名词审定委员会已建议逐步退出使用，可直接用对映异构体（对映体）或非对映异构体（非对映体）表达。
