根据被加工零件的图样及其技术要求、工艺要求等切削加工的必要信息，将数控加工中零件的工艺过程、工艺参数（进给速度F、主轴转速S、刀具T）、刀具位移量与方向以及辅助动作（换刀、冷却、夹紧等），按运动顺序和所用数控机床规定的指令代码及程序格式编写成数控加工程序单，并记录在控制介质上（如穿孔带、磁带、磁盘等），然后输入给数控装置，从而指挥数控机床进行加工的整个过程。简称数控编程。
