一种检索词字符串与文献被标引词字符串部分匹配的智能型检索技术。即在检索标识中保留相同的部分（给定的词干），部分一致检索或模糊检索。用相应的截词符代替可变化部分，查找含有该词干的全部检索词的记录，又称词干检索或字符屏蔽检索。
