呈层状排列，层内分子相互平行，分子主轴平行于层面，层面间此排列方向形成一垂直于层面（分子长轴）的螺旋线变化轨迹的一种介晶状态。因其来源于胆甾醇衍生物而得名。又称螺旋相。
