按照研究对象是否暴露于某因素或暴露于某因素的不同水平，将其分为暴露组和非暴露组，然后随访一定时间，观察和比较这两组的发病率或死亡率，以检验该暴露因素与疾病发生有无联系的假设是否成立的研究方法。是分析流行病学研究中重要方法之一，又称队列研究（cohort study）、发生率研究（incidence study）、随访研究（follow-up study）及纵向研究（longitudinal study）。
