发育于亚热带常绿阔叶与落叶阔叶混交林下的淋溶土。在中国土壤系统分类中，可依据土壤水分状况的差异被诊断为湿润淋溶土或者半干润淋溶土；在美国土壤系统分类中，为湿润淋溶土[注]或半干润淋溶土[注]；在联合国世界土壤资源参比基础中，为高活性淋溶土[注]；对与之相类似的土壤，俄罗斯称为黄棕色森林土；日本定名为黄棕色土。曾称黏盘土、灰棕黏盘壤。
