在生产及流通过程中，涉及将产品或服务提供给最终用户活动的上游与下游企业所形成的网链结构。供应链的活动包括将自然资源、原材料、零部件转化为产品，归类、逐级分储，批发，分销，以及零售等若干环节。供应链是物理流和信息流的有机结合体。物理流是指物质转换、配送和存储，是供应链中最能明显看到的东西。但信息流使供应链的参与者能协调他们的长期计划，能随供应链需求的波动来及时控制逐日的材料和货流。可见信息流同样重要。
