在动态载荷作用下，材料或构件承受波动的应力作用时，其某一点或某几点发生局部的、永久性的组织变化的一种递增过程。按照循环应力的大小，疲劳可分为应力疲劳和应变疲劳。在循环应力作用下，若最大循环应力小于屈服应力，则称为应力疲劳，这种情况下作用的循环应力水平较低，寿命循环次数较高，疲劳寿命一般大于104次，故又称高周疲劳。
