人体因感受六淫之邪或温热疫毒之气，导致营卫失和，脏腑阴阳失调，而出现病理性体温升高，伴有恶寒、面赤、烦躁、脉数等临床表现的一类急性外感病证。中医文献中也称之为“发热”“寒热”“壮热”等。本病证相当于现代医学的流行性感冒、上呼吸道感染、肺部感染、胆道感染、泌尿道感染等出现以高热为临床表现者。
